The Devil Went Down To Georgia
I don't know if you've heard, but that enormous pile of taxpayer money called the Forestview Planetarium is going to be hosting a series of rockin' laser shows the week of February 26th, culminating with a veritable extravagnaza of lasers and rock on the evening of March 3rd to commemorate the lunar eclipse that very night.
The Dispatch story tells us that "music from Pink Floyd, U2, Yanni, Elton John, The B-52's, AC/DC, Joan Jett, Journey and many more will be featured." I (much like you, no doubt) was initially excited by the prospect of all those great artists being in the same place at the same time. Alas and alack, only a few will be featured per show. Here's the breakdown, straight from http://www.forestviewplanetarium.org/laser.html (it has crazy html formatting, so please forgive some overlap):

Saturday, March 3rd
Laser Magic 5:00
Laser Vinyl 6:00
Laser U2 7:00
Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon 8:00
Hmm lets see. I'm not that big of a U2 fan, the March 1st show is a little too easy-listening for my tastes (Celine Dion's blechiness cancels out Will Smith's awsomeness almost perfectly), and while Bohemian Rhapsody would be sweet the rest of the March 2nd show is pretty much filler.
I'm thinking the Floyd show, not only because "it's Floyd, man!" but also because Dark Side of the Moon is pretty sweet, and it has been proven to go well with lasers.

Laser Magic definitely sounds like the winner here. fuckin "Time Warp" segueing into "Candle In The Wind", follwed by No Doubt and then The Hunter? Heartstrings=rended, Mind=blown.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" followed by "Carry On My Wayward Son" almost makes Laser Vinyl worth it regardless, but yeah the rest is kind of luke-warm.
Pink Floyd=defintely.
If only they weren't at opposite ends of the time spectrum, going to LASER MARATHON on the 3rd and catching both Floyd and Laser Magic would be ideal.
that shit is great. fucking yanni. yeah. im thinking march 1st and 2nd and the floyd shows. how much are each?
man, screw that. im going to the marathon that saturday. its a good way to spend a day and 15 dollars. who's with me?
I like U2, but they're just not up to the standards of a 40 minute laser show.
I'm thinkin Laser Magic on the 1st and then coming just for Pink Floyd and the eclipse on the 3rd. Or else going to both on the 3rd and doing something else in between.
Is this during your spring break capelle?
yeah it's 5 bucks a show. and capelle, you know the laser spectacular will be worth it.
capelle, when you say "going to the marathon" do you mean "I'm going to observe other people compete in a marathon" or "I'm going to run 26 miles."
Because if it's the latter, color me impressed.
uhh max i think he meant the
"Laser Marathon
Saturday, March 3rd"

just out of curiosity, did they mention anything about a free "hallucinogen" or "opiate" booth?
yeah, my spring break is from the 23rd to the 5th i believe. and even if u2 isn't that good for a 40 min show (which i kinda agree with) a laser show would kick ass to any music, really.
max, laser marathon. cmon, its your post.
AAHHH I see. That makes slightly more sense.
No offense capelle, but you don't strike me as a real "Iron Man" kinda guy.
Okay I guess I'll do a laser marathon. Gotta support the arts, right?
Man the laser show at the EPCOT center is sweet.
I realize that the Forestview Planetarium and Adler Planetarium in Chicago are practically equal in terms of quality, but the laser rock show I saw had a much better playlist:
"Everything in Its Right Place" – Radiohead
"Cochise" – Audioslave
"Elevation" – U2
"Into the Blue (Spiritual Mix)" – Moby
"Metronomic Underground" – Stereolab
"Blood, Milk & Sky" – White Zombie
"Utopia" – Goldfrapp
"Ladies & Gentleman We Are Floating in Space" – Spiritualized
"Mea Culpa" – Brian Eno & David Byrne
"Heroes" – David Bowie
"Clocks" – Coldplay
"Emerge" – Fischerspooner
"Firestarter" – The Prodigy
"First It Giveth" – Queens of the Stone Age
"Julie and Candy" – Boards of Canada
"We Are All Made of Stars" – Moby
"Do You Realize??" – The Flaming Lips
"Honestly" – Zwan
"God Moving Over the Face of the Waters" – Moby
But on the other hand, mine had no Yanni.
LASER MARATHON!!!!!!!!11
yeah, if i were to enter in a real marathon, i would die. and i dont mean that as a form of hyperbole. my bodily functions would shut down, causing my life on earth to be no more.
haha dang. i wish i was going to be in brainerd for this. hmph.
but the laser rock show I saw had a much better playlist:
I disagree. You can hardly call that a laseer rock show.
You're right. Nothing says rock like "Don't Speak."
